Almost 6 is a wonderful age, except for the occasional pesky monster in your bed. You know, the type you can hear climbing the stairs.
According to my grandson, the whole thing is frighteningly upsetting . You call for help, but your parents just don't seem to get it.
So, this Christmas, I sent Woo to the rescue. He may look fearsome, but he's just a softie, stitched by Grandma to keep the other monsters away and I hear he's very good at his job.
Last year I got a lot of inspiration from the softie artists I followed in blogland. Lori makes some pretty cute, chase the monsters away, softies, Mimi takes old sweaters and fabrics and constructs non monster friends for big and little kids everywhere. Jodi just put the final stitches on her own softie friend. There is a great blog that shows off this kind of soft sculpture and its amazing what they make out of a bit of felt. I have a lot of felt... so I hope to be inspired by these folks and meet my goals this year to destash and create.
I don't have a lot of 6 year old grandsons in need of monster protection, so, I won't be stitching up an army anytime soon, but I sure had fun with Woo.
